One night I was sitting alone in my dorm room and felt the need to IRC. This happens often since my introduction to IRC during middle school. Not belonging to any channels in particular, I decided to peruse the major networks for a channel to call #home. I joined EFNet and proceeded to scour their channel list. Looking down the list #thecabin caught my eye. There was something about the topic that made me want to investigate. I can’t be sure, but I’m pretty confident it was the presence of r33t that made me take a second look. Initially I was worried it was some sort of gay channel, and a cabin was some place they all went to have mad an0r with one another. Timidly I /joined. Gabe greeted me fourteen minutes later.
The second day I joined again, still afraid things weren’t all as they seemed. I was quite worried after I joined as they appeared to be talking about something called ‘an0r’ and giving this other newcomer a very hard time. Ellena explained in detail different times she had been an0red. Did I seriously join the gayest channel on EFNet? Was this #bearcave’s father? Luckly Gabe PM’ed me and told me it was a joke towards a newcomer. I relaxed and joined in on the debauchery. The newcomer eventually left and the rest is history.
